For the first time in seven months, sales of digital collectables, or non-fungible tokens (NFTs), saw an 18% increase in October. Sales of NFTs had been dropping since March but started picking back up last month.
In other words, NFTs suddenly dropped from a high of $1.6 billion in sales in March to their lowest ever recorded sales in September. But that didn’t last long, come October sales were up again.
In fact, data from CryptoSlam shows that NFTs managed to hit a volume of about $356 million in October. That’s an 18% increase month-on-month, which is great news for digital collectors. It meant a break from that continual seven-month dip in NFT sales.
Also, the total number of NFT transactions increased in October. It grew from five million transactions in September to a significant 7.2 million. That’s a whopping 42% increase!
Weekly sales of NFTs also hit a high in October, showing the highest figures since August. The peak week was between Sept. 30 and Oct. 6, when sales reached over $84 million, according to CryptoSlam.
So, which NFTs did particularly well in October? Mythos Chain-based DMarket led the pack with $33 million in sales. Following up was Guild of Guardians Heroes with a volume of $13 million. Other popular NFT collections included Bitcoin Puppets, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and CryptoPunks.
And it wasn’t just Bitcoin and Ethereum-based collections that did well. Solana-based collectibles also made it to the top 10 collections by sales volume in October. Some of these popular Solana NFTs include DogeZuki, Froganas, and Retardio Cousins, which collectively made nearly $25 million in sales in October.
In all, Solana-based NFTs recorded a sales volume of $67 million, making up 19% of the overall NFT volume for October. This takes Solana’s all-time sales volume to nearly $6 billion, making it the second most popular blockchain for NFTs.
