Magic Labs, a provider of wallet infrastructure, just announced that it has partnered with Polygon’s AggLayer to create Newton, a dedicated network for unifying blockchain technology.
In a nutshell, what Newton does is let wallet solutions link up with AggLayer. This is a Polygon-supported initiative that’s all about connecting similar chains and letting tokens trade freely between them. Magic Labs is proud to be the first to offer a dedicated network like this.
As of now, Newton is still in its testing phase, but its ultimate goal is to enable the easy sharing of liquidity across multiple blockchains that have integrated with AggLayer.
But what is AggLayer? Just one of Polygon’s latest gadgets! It was designed to unify liquidity and alleviate fragmentation across different blockchains. Also, just because a blockchain wasn’t built with Polygon’s tech doesn’t mean it can’t plug into the AggLayer to access other networks in the Polygon ecosystem. Pretty rad, right?
Many projects are going head over heels for AggLayer ever since Polygon launched it back in January 2024. Projects such as Movement Labs (known for developing Move) and the blockchain interoperability project, Union Labs are all in to join AggLayer. Likewise, Magic Labs is stoked to hop onto the bandwagon, too.
Sean Li, the big guy at Magic Labs, envisions “chain unification” as the future for crypto, likening it to ACH or SWIFT. His belief is that this will allow developers to design user experiences sans any barriers. In his words, users should only have to worry about transaction cost and speed, and not the chain. Doing away with UX barriers is going to unleash the best use cases. Let’s see how this pans out!
