While some people may think that Bitcoin has reached its highest value, experts in the field think that Bitcoin still has lots of potential as more wealth managers worldwide start investing in it.
In an online discussion, Pierre Rochard from Riot Platforms and Dylan LeClaire from Metaplanet shared their predictions about Bitcoin’s future.
Rochard mentioned at the Bitcoin Amsterdam 2024 conference that the belief that Bitcoin’s big gains are over is misleading. From his point of view, Bitcoin is still very new, as less than 1% of the global wealth balance has been converted to Bitcoin.
He stated, “When people see how Bitcoin’s value has changed over time and think that its golden days are over… I believe this is a wrong perception. And they’re in for a surprise.”
LeClaire agreed, saying that we’re still in an “exciting time,” and he forecasts a “crazy decade ahead” for Bitcoin.
Rochard was also asked about the possibility of Hyperbitcoinization — the idea that eventually, all products and services will be priced in Bitcoin instead of traditional money. He speculated that this shift may already be happening.
Rochard pointed out, “When even someone like Larry Fink says on TV that Bitcoin is bigger than government, it feels like we’ve already reached the Hyperbitcoinization phase. Now it’s all about spreading the word.”
The fact that the leader of a firm that manages trillions of dollars in assets is seriously discussing Bitcoin shows how far Bitcoin has come. LeClaire also mentioned that it’s quite amazing when mainstream finance experts are talking about the same points that Bitcoin advocates have been discussing for the last decade.
