A Bitcoin street artist, known as “Street” from Street CY₿ER, has reported “great success” with his Bitcoin art show in Barcelona. A growing bitcoin craze brought in over a thousand people, stimulating curiosity about the cryptocurrency.
His Bitcoin “Art of Revolution” exhibition was held at the Artevistas Gallery in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, an area also known for birthing world-renowned artist Joan Miró.
Drawing in around 100 visitors daily from September 24 to late October, the successful show displayed a combo of classic and modern art that shines a light on how Bitcoin can foster a more balanced, fair world.
Most of the Bitcoin art pieces were sold – around 70% of 400 total – and buyers ranged from school kids and execs to artists and art collectors.
Street says the exhibition got people to reassess any wrong ideas they had heard about Bitcoin, showing them how it can reshape financial frameworks. Many made it clear that their understanding of Bitcoin was profoundly altered by the exhibition and they were leaving with a much bigger respect for its potential to revolutionize the world.
With Spanish economies fluctuating, interest in Bitcoin art may have grown, but Street stressed that their main aim is to educate and inspire people, rather than take advantage of hard economic times.
The Bitcoin Art of Revolution only intended to run from Sept. 24 to October 20, but thanks to its success, the gallery owner extended it a further week.
Street’s success has sparked interest from other European galleries, who are keen to hold similar exhibitions. Last year, Cointelegraph spoke to Street, who has gained popularity from his exceptional graffiti art in several European cities, all about Bitcoin.
Street CY₿ER consists of over 100 teachers, activists, enthusiasts, musicians and artists who use street art as a medium to circulate the word about Bitcoin, sidestepping traditional media.
Their Bitcoin centered street art encourages people to learn about Bitcoin by touching on themes such as financial privacy, inflation and war, urging audiences to reconsider the societal impact of money.
