30s Summary
A recent poll by Emerson College reveals that nearly 20% of US voters have used cryptocurrency, with about 40% of these having made purchases with it. The majority of crypto users are below 40 and predominantly male. Supporters of Donald Trump form over half of the crypto users in the survey. Other findings suggest different ethnicities use crypto more than white individuals, and many younger people oppose a ban on TikTok. A separate survey found 26 million voters consider pro-crypto policies when voting. Current pro-crypto congressional representation could lead to more favorable crypto regulations.

Nearly 20% of voters in the US reveal that they’ve messed around with cryptocurrency at some point, according to a recent poll from Emerson College. The poll, conducted between December 11 and 13, asked 1,000 registered voters about their cryptocurrency experience and found that close to 40% of those who use crypto have also bought stuff with it.
Cryptocurrency seems to be popular among the younger crowd with a significant minority base. Spencer Kimball, who runs the polling at Emerson College, said more than half of the crypto users are fans of Donald Trump. There was a big push for cryptocurrency during Trump’s campaign, and he has nominated several people who are all about crypto to be in charge of important financial regulation groups, like the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The poll showed that the largest group of crypto users were people under 40, with almost one-third having some experience with crypto. Kimball said that cryptocurrency usage decreases as people get older. He said, for example, 28% of people in their 40s, 17% in their 50s, 9% in their 60s and a tiny 4% of folks over 70 use cryptocurrency.
Men are twice as likely to use crypto compared to women, with 26% of guys and 13% of ladies saying they’ve used crypto. About one-third of crypto users identified as Asian, Hispanic, or Black, while only 14% identified as white.
When it comes to the social media platform TikTok, around 40% of the voters they polled are up for banning it, but the younger peeps under 29 aren’t so keen on the idea.
Furthermore, a different survey conducted by the Digital Chamber, a crypto advocacy group, found that about 26 million US voters care a lot about pro-crypto policies when casting their vote for a certain politician. Interestingly, one in seven or 16% of the respondents said crypto policies play a big role in deciding who they’ll vote for.
After the 2024 presidential election, a bunch of pro-crypto candidates got a spot in Congress, leading industry leaders to suggest that the US government might be having the most cryptocurrency-friendly vibe in history. Hopefully, this will result in better rules and regulations about cryptocurrency.
