Infinex, a platform for decentralized finance (or DeFi), just revealed that it’s preparing to list the top 500 cryptocurrencies. They also plan on coming out with a new version of their platform at the start of 2025.
The info comes straight from the horse’s mouth. Infinex’s founder Kain Warwick was chatting with a reporter from Cointelegraph at a conference in Thailand. Warwick shared that Infinex is already in support of 100 tokens, like Solana Program Library tokens, NFTs, and ERC-20 tokens.
Warwick mentioned that they’re considering expanding their token support five-fold. They want to display the 500 top assets you’d find on big platforms like CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap. This would cover tokens from Solana, Ethereum, and Ethereum layer-2 solutions.
Yet Warwick admits older cryptocurrencies (like Bitcoin and Litecoin) may need a little more time before they’re added to the platform.
Alongside listing way more tokens, Infinex plans to also bring out their version 2 release with various improvements. Warwick hopes that this update will speed up the platform’s integration process. Right now, he says each integration needs on-chain code, which is too slow for their liking.
To solve this, they plan on introducing a feature called the Vault. This will be a super safe place to stash your funds. However, they’ll also provide a hot wallet that’s able to interact with contracts. Despite the name, this hot wallet won’t actually store funds. Instead, it will hold them in transit. So basically, assets would be kept in the vault until the users decide to sell or list them.
With this new setup, Warwick suggests that Infinex will be able to connect with NFT platforms like OpenSea and Blur much quicker.
It’s speculated the new version of Infinex will be out for users “early next year,” but there’s no official release date just yet.
